Macaw Mountain Bird Park

At about 2.5 km from Copán Ruinas there is an extensive private reserve destined to save the macaws of Central America. Here there are many, along with toucans, motmots, parrots, kingfishers and orioles, all flying in spacious cages of human construction. In the 'Encounter Center', birds without reserve fly over your shoulders or hands and you can pose for photos with them.

If you are a bird or a bird, you should not have wanted them, or they were confiscated from the bird smugglers. It is a lovely place to walk, with lots of trails to walk through the lush forest and on boardwalks to viewpoints and swimming holes; There is also a cafe-restaurant on the property.
